The 5th of July 2023 marks the 75th Anniversary for our National Health Service (NHS). Ironically, the NHS is in crisis. This is a time where we should be celebrating. Our Nurse’s struggle has come to the forefront of the public eye over the past couple of years due to pay disparity across the NHS in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK. Nurse’s across the UK took a stand with one another to highlight the strain, struggles, poor staffing and diversion of their moral compass when trying to work within this pressurised system. “We as nurses decided to strike to keep our patients safe and for pay parity. However, the UK government created barriers for us continuing this.”
